Tonight I measured Dexter for his new x-back harness, which I ordered from Alpine Outfitters. I was going to wait until theTails of the Tundra hike to pick one up, but I figured I could always have an extra — especially since I plan on adding a puppy in the winter.
I’m really eager to start training Dexter for real bikejoring. Instead of running alongside my bike, I want him to get used to pulling. I need to pick up some tow lines and rig up some kind of object he can practice pulling — maybe some sort of wagon or an old tire.
My goal is to have him comfortable with commands and pulling by the winter. Then by next winter, I’ll hopefully have a second dog ready to train. That’s when getting a sled or scooter will happen, and I’ll transition completely into a dog nerd.
